Here is How to Fix Sedlauncher.exe High CPU Usage

Sedlauncher.exe

In this article you will find out:

  • how to deal with this issue
  • how to protect your data

Are you ready? Let's read!

About This Issue

Sedlauncher.exe is associated with the KB 4023057 Windows 10/11 service pack. It is specifically designed to optimize the speed of the Windows Update service. However, many users reported that sedlauncher.exe is causing high CPU usage. As a result, the entire system slows down significantly, which interferes with your work at the computer.

This article will walk you through some of the best ways to complete/delete this task and then use your computer without a performance bottleneck.

Here are Solutions:

1. Stop the Process

The first thing you can do is turn off the Windows Fix Service process. To do this, press Win + R on your keyboard, in the Run window, enter services.msc and click OK.

In the list of services provided, find Windows Recovery Service (sedsvc).

Next, open the properties window and on the General tab, click the drop-down list. Select Disabled, click Apply and check if the problem persists with sedlauncher.

2. Delete it

You can take a radical approach to the problem and completely remove the Fixes for Windows Installation.

To do this, open, select Windows settingsApplications. In the new window, scroll down and find Update for Windows 10/11 for x64-based Systems (KB4023057) or Hotfixes for Windows Installation (x64) (KB4023057). Select this program and click the Uninstall button. Once the uninstallation is complete, check to see if the problem is resolved.

3. Turn Off REMPL

To free up the processor and deal with the sedlauncher.exe file, you can try turning off the REMPL task.

To do this, press the Win + R keys and enter taskschd.msc in the dialog box; press Enter.

In the new window, click the arrow next to Task Scheduler Library and navigate to the following path: Microsoft -> Windows -> rempl.

Pay attention to the right pane - you will see the "shell" task that needs to be removed. To do this, select the task and click Delete. Confirm your decision and wait for the process to complete.

4. Use a Firewall

Another way to remedy the situation is to block the Windows Recovery Service. This can be done through a firewall:

Click in the search bar and type Windows Defender Firewall. Open it, click Advanced Settings in the left menu and select Outbound Rules. Next, select New Rule. In the new window select Program and then click the Next button. Now navigate to the folder Windows Recovery Services On your hard drive and select the "sedsvc.exe" file. Follow the instructions on the screen (enter a name for the new rule, click Next, then Finish) to complete the process.

As a result, the Error Correction Updates to Windows 10/11 may cause data stored in a disk file to be lost or damaged. Therefore, before using the previous methods, it is recommended to recover all data or certain important partitions of the disk using DiskInternals Partition Recovery, or do it immediately after the data is lost.

You do not need to have any additional skills, since the program is fully automated and can be understood by even an ordinary user. Video files, music, illustrations, photos and documents of any format will be recovered with full accuracy.

If your computer has a lot of lost and damaged information, don't worry; in this regard, the program has no limitations. In addition, the developers have equipped the program with many additional functions: free preview, recovery wizard, several scanning and data search modes, etc.

In addition to the paid (licensed) version of the program, there is also a free trial version of DiskInternals Partition Recovery - use it and you will not regret your choice!
