Thinking about Rolling Back OS Update? Before rolling back your system to a previous state, it is important to note that you may lose your recently saved files and documents

Also, your recent configurations may be lost, too. Thus, to prevent data loss, it is best to create a backup before proceeding with OS restoration.

There are different types of backups and there are many ways to create them; including using data recovery software or backup software. DiskInternals Partition Recovery is an ideal software app you can use to create data or file backups. This software is primarily a data recovery tool, but it allows you to create Disk Images (a modern backup technology) for free. These Disk Images can be easily mounted back after the OS restorations, and you’ll have all your files back, without losing anything.

Steps to Backup Your Data Before OS Restoration

  • Download the software and install DiskInternals Partition Recovery on your Windows PC.
  • Launch the app after installation and cancel the Wizard box that launches automatically.
  • Select the disk you want to backup, right-click and choose Create Disk Image. You can also click on Drives on the menu bar and select Create Image.
  • Now, choose where to save the disk image - it has to be saved in an external location since you're planning to roll back updates on your PC.
